The Intuition of Your Body

Delicious… today’s meditation (Day 3) with Oprah and Deepak was called the Intuition of Your Body.  Isn’t it wonderful to KNOW that your body has wisdom you can rely on? Deepak shared something I so resonate with:

Albert Einstein once said: “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift. And the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Isn’t that true? As a society, we value the rational. We need proof. We refer to case studies. We follow trends and predict the future based on past events and calculated models.

Our intuitive mind is sharp and immediate. It can cut through layers of doubt, analysis and anxiety and immediately produce a fail-safe answer without the back-up information to prove our case. Our rational mind on the other hand requires analysis, information and proof. It needs to weigh the pros and cons, seek outside opinions, fact-check, brainstorm and plan systematically.

As I’ve deepened my awareness and study of this mind-body connection, I’ve concluded we benefit from both — the gift and the servant. The servant (rational mind) may not be equipped to lead, but he/she is still a valuable asset for getting things done and talking to other servants (other rational minds). But the gift cannot be forgotten. Let me rephrase, it can, but we forget it at the expense of missing opportunities and shortcuts and causing ourselves extra work, pain and a general sense of discontent.

In my coaching and on this blog I speak a lot about:
1) slowing yourself down enough to hear your intuition and
2) trusting it enough to act on it.

When we are in a constant state of busy-ness, it’s hard to hear our intuition, and even more difficult to separate it from mental chatter. Have you noticed that? That’s why a daily practice of being in stillness and allowing the mind to quiet and empty is so powerful.

Can you tell the difference between intuition and mental chatter?

It takes some practice, but is well worth the time. Then the “gift” can inform the “servant” and create a strong partnership where both feel valued.

Tomorrow I’ll discuss some differences between intuition and mental chatter, in case you are struggling to decipher the two.

Sending you waves of stillness so your intuition can be heard,

Love,

Paula
