8 Sparkling Steps to Invite Spring Inside

Snows in May!
Snow in May!

What a start to spring we’ve had. It’s come and gone a few times in the last month. In fact, last week I went from wearing shorts and a t-shirt one day to this less than 24 hours later. ===>

Oh well, as my friend Cindy Winther said, spring can be an inside job.  I agree.

The beautiful thing about more sunlight and warmer temperatures is your body is adjusting. It wants to be outside more and be ready to shed the few extra pounds you may have held on to over winter.

Or is it just me? For years I beat myself up that I gained weight in the winter and then lost it in the spring/summer.  Now I’m so clear that this is the body’s way of living in HARMONY with Mother Nature.  I need a few extra pounds to keep warmer.

No more self-abuse.

At the same time, I’m ready to feel lighter both in physical weight and in spirits.

Even if you look outside and don’t see spring yet, invite spring inside.  Chances are your body and spirits are saying, “It’s time!” Here are simple tips.

8 Sparkling Steps to Invite Spring Inside

  1. Bring spring flowers into your home.  Tulips lift spirits and are simply gorgeous.
  2. Drink lots of water, starting with lemon water first thing.  It’s perfect liver de-toxifier.
  3. Lighten up your diet with more raw fruits and veggies.  Avoid fried foods and heavy sauces.  Think clear for clarity. (i.e. clear broths and dressings.)
  4. Consider a spring cleanse.
  5. As temperatures warm up, get outside in the sunshine and get moving!
  6. Clean out your pantry, fridge and even your oven. (Eeek, mine was wild. Bless whoever invented self cleaning ovens!)
  7. Open windows in your home and let new air in. (In fact, mark a weekend in the next month to clean those windows.)
  8. Begin a simple de-cluttering practice.  Remove one thing from your home each day for the next 30 days.

I love #8 and do this every spring.  I end up removing more than 30 items. Yesterday’s item was old pillows from the couch.  I found gorgeous new ones at Walmart of all places. Who knew that new inexpensive pillows could make a gal so happy?

Here’s to simple pleasures!
