What Some Days Bring

Day 12. I admit I went to bed last night thinking, dear God, do I really have something to write for the next 88 days?

And the silent nudge that woke me at 4:04 am said, “Yes, yes you do.”

But that’s just it. Not every day is meant to be a “knock it out of the park” writing day. Some days our work is simply to excavate. Or prepare the ground to plant new seeds. Maybe sprinkle some water, pluck a weed or two and notice what’s growing.

Some days are meant to be quiet with no written agenda. Some days the writing is so personal (and needs to be) that the journal gets all the action. Some days the writing is meant to take place not on paper or a computer but on the walls of our heart.

If we can honour what some days bring, we are available for the magic.

Often we’re so focused on the end goal that we don’t see the nuances in our process. We miss the doorways and short-cuts. We miss the signs and subtle shifts inside us. We miss the good feeling energy. Our heads are down and we’re plowing the ground.

Look up, breathe. Notice the blue sky. Listen for the whispers. Touch your heart. Feel the energy in your body. What’s it telling you?

This my dear IS the journey. Writing is merely the tool.

I’m so glad I have 87 more days. I have much to learn.

Affirmation: I trust the pace and rhythm of my life. I follow my flow and take note of all the signs that are guiding me.
