I took two days to be by myself this week — away from family, some work and the outside world. At first my mind judged that decision.
“Run away?? You?? That’s for crazy, unstable people.”
Ooooo, that inner critic. She’s something else at times, isn’t she?
“No, love. It’s for anyone who wants to empty the mind, nurture the body and return ‘home’ to the heart.”
Stillness is helping me re-member and re-balance. It’s refilling my inner well and bringing a beautiful smile to my face. It’s reminding me what’s important and what I need to thrive. It’s helping the truth to float to the surface and all other stories to sink and dissolve.
I won’t lie. Not every moment is comfortable. It’s easy to stay busy and ignore the signs– until you hit the wall.
There is no shame in taking a time-out, a weekend away or an abrupt hiatus in the middle of your week. In fact, it very well might be EXACTLY what you need.
As busy working women and moms, we have a lot of energy out there, flowing to others. If a similar amount is not flowing back to us, we will deplete.
Today I’m proud of myself for opening to receive the flow, for being gentle and loving, for listening and for noticing all the beautiful signs that tell me my path is perfect. If I cannot practice ultimate self-care, how can I guide other amazing women down their own path?
We teach what we most need to learn and master ourselves.
This truth rings loudly in Paula’s village tonight.
What do you need in this moment? I’d love to hear.
Love,
Paula
Good for you Paula, that sounds heavenly. I often think of taking a time out for myself, but something always comes up.
Maybe someday…
It’s been heavenly and grounding. I encourage you to create that “some day” Noble-Lee. I’ve learned so much from it and am returning home happier and healthier with some great ideas on how our whole family can thrive better. Hugs to you.
