Today I’m filling my car with things to take to their respective homes: recycling, goodwill, and a second hand store. This frees me of the piles I’ve been stacking in corners of my home. We’re only 13 days in but I’m already feeling like this mission of creating space is becoming a way of life. That’s really my goal, because I notice how much better I feel physically and emotionally when my environment is less cluttered, organized and supports who I am becoming.
We are constantly evolving as human and spiritual beings. Naturally, so are our surroundings. We are developing new tastes, passions, skills and interests. We are entering new phases of life and relationships. We are deepening our self awareness and intution. We are expressing ourselves in richer, more authentic ways. So, we need to help our surroundings keep up, or they’ll bog us down.
I am not the person I was yesterday, and surely won’t be the same tomorrow.
And so this little ‘decluttering exercise’ is not so little. Can you see that? It’s HUGE actually. We are supporting our transformation one box, one paper, one frying pan, one old pair of shoes at a time. If you could see that the only thing between you and a dream you have for yourself is a bunch of clutter, would you look at your clutter differently? I sure am!
This is so exciting, Paula. Yay for getting those boxes out of the house! Sometimes that’s my biggest downfall. The boxes get filled, and then sit for AGES…waiting to go somewhere, anywhere…
Oh trust me. I still have one in my piano room that thinks its a permanent piece of furniture. When you start dusting around it, you know something’s wrong with this picture!!
I just need to take a moment tomorrow to go through it. Hanna’s been in and out of it so you never know what I’ll find in there.
I like the idea of a weekly trip to goodwill. I can easily work it into my schedule and it feels good to see the stuff move out each week. Plus, it’s always nice to know someone else is benefiting. I’m reminded of that every time I visit.
