One Great Reason to Look Over Your Shoulder

Do you ever feel like you are not measuring up to your internal self-approval meter? Or that your to-do list is never-ending? Or that your journey to a desired weight, more happiness, greater business success or a clutter-free home feels far in the distance?

It’s so easy to be fixated on the gap ahead of you in reaching your dreams.

But unfortunately, if you only look ahead you will always feel like you’re behind.

This past week in my Movement, Magic & More journey, I asked the ladies to look back and see how far they’ve come — to take inventory of all the changes they’ve made and how differently they are living daily life in just 8 short weeks.

Admittedly, it was hard for some of them to celebrate. And yet their accomplishments were amazing.

Sugar free days, earlier bedtimes, strength gained, weight lost, relationships improved, forgiveness embraced, and magic created. YES!

These are not insignificant changes. Repeated consistently, they will dramatically change a woman’s life.

In the self-improvement world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of continuous improvement. I know this personally. I always want to experience more, be more alive, be healthier, be stronger, be more loving, and live my BEST LIFE!

Don’t worry. The Universe wants that for you too… and will naturally guide you toward that.

The path to get there is through consistent, high-vibrational thoughts, energy and actions… and you guessed it… celebration!

And that’s why we look back,  to CELEBRATE!

Today I invited you to look over your shoulder and see all that you’ve survived, overcome, and accomplished in the last year.  Some of you have changed jobs, left relationships, and survived illness.  Some of you have made money, lost money, and made it back again. Some of you have lost faith, seen miracles and believed again. Some of you have faced hard life lessons and turned over a new leaf.  Some of you have been touched by angels and experienced epiphanies only the Divine can create.

And none of it was by accident.  None of it.

Why is looking back so important?

1. It proves you are strong and resilient.

You can overcome.  You can thrive.  You can get results.  You can believe! (Sometimes a little more faith is all we need.)

2. It strengthens your wings as you look forward and see the goal you are reaching for.

It’s do-able.  You’ve already proven you can take steps that move you forward.  All that is required are more steps, more faith and plenty of good-feeling vibes about your desired outcome.

3. It can also reveal small tweaks you want to make to become more mindful of how you live…

Knowing that your everyday thoughts and actions are painting the scenery of your future.

So grab a journal and ask yourself these 5 questions:

1. What have I accomplished in the past year?

(Look in all areas of your life:  work, family, friendships, well-being, fitness, body image, emotional health, finances, spirituality)

2. What did I survive?

(Hey, let’s face it.  Sometimes surviving is an accomplishment in itself!)

3. What life lessons did I get and what did I learn?

(These are gems. Not always in the prettiest packages, but gems nonetheless.)

4. What magic and miracles did I experience?

(Hint: You are getting them every day.  Are you noticing them?)

5. What tweaks would I like to make as I look to the future?

(If you’re stuck on this one, look more closely at your life lessons.)

Now read what you wrote.  Say it out loud and connect with it.  STAND UP, TWIRL AND TAKE A BOW! There is no vanity in my world.  Just deep self-love.

So, go ahead, look back and see how far you’ve come.  You just might be surprised when you write it all down.

With love and admiration,

Paula
