Declutter Day 3: Go Inside

Let’s do a little check-in. Where’s your energy at today? Are you feeling rushed and overwhelmed? Or peaceful and spacious? Excited? Or just so-so?

If decluttering feels like one more thing to do today, then perhaps today’s decluttering is an internal one. What’s one thought that’s taking up space in your mind that you would like to release? How would your day flow better if you didn’t have that thought? What other thought would better fuel you?

Today I’m thrilled to have a quiet house to myself. Yet my mind is racing with all the things to get done. So I consciously remove the idea that there is not enough time.

Instead I choose to focus on a few of my fun things planned for today. Like some great writing. And preparing for tomorrow’s exciting photo shoot. And a rejuvenating work-out. Oh, and I’m going to return some purchases I made over the holidays that didn’t work out.

Already, I feel more spacious when I think about that. What about you? I’d love to hear.

  1. Tuesdays are always less cluttered because one of the boys goes to spend the night at my parents’ house.

Note, I don’t consider my boys clutter.

But on Tuesday night, for us it means less dishes to wash, less toys to clean, less prep for the next day, and a bit more free time for Hubs and I.

It’s a wonderful gift my parents have given us.

  2. And my physical declutter was a small drawer full of more of the boys drawings and school work. I kept some, and tossed the rest into recycling (I mean really, how many sheets of practice printing and addition tables can you have?)

  3. Monday I gave away old board games my kids don’t play anymore to my sons school plus 5 Bob the Builder dvds and books to my son’s teacher for her 3 yr old. They were thrilled and so was I to have them off my hands.
