7 Things to Do During Your Money Love Date

Do you have regular Money Love Dates? They are fabulous at keeping you connected to your money flow and attending to the activities that matter most.

You may have a strong connection to money already. But some people would rather not have to deal with money. They can often rely on others to take care of their finances or they simply ignore financial matters, which as we know, don’t go away.

No matter where you stand on the continuum of money connection, we can all benefit from Money Love Dates!

What’s a Money Love Date?

It’s a date with yourself where you attend to money matters.

I call it, “Money Love” because money loves attention. And the more you attend to your money, the more empowered you’ll feel. You will truly learn to love this time.

7 Things to Do During Your Money Love Date

There are many things you can do during a Money Love Date. Here are my seven favourites. You might only focus on one or two of them during any particular date. That’s okay. You can always schedule more!

Note: You can do these for your business or for your personal finances.

1. REVIEW – Review all bank and credit card transactions

From big purchases to the smallest of bank fees, make sure you review all inflows and outflows on your statements or online. Ideally they are recognizable and reasonable. This process can take just minutes and keeps you connected to the flow and your spending in check.

2. PAY – Pay your bills on time.

Ideally, collect your bills in one place. Then pay bills in batches for efficiency. I batch things twice monthly for payments closer to the beginning of the month and then mid-month. Focus on paying bills on time with deep gratitude that you have the funds to do so.

3. COLLECT – Reach out to anyone who owes you money.

It’s amazing how many people struggle with collecting money owed to them; but it happens. Don’t beat yourself up!

If you get in the regular habit and ask for it right away, it doesn’t become a bigger problem on both sides. Energetically, you are telling the Universe you are open to receiving.

4. FILE – Sort and file important receipts and other back-up.

For personal expenses, I like to sort by type of expense and use binders (as opposed to file folders) so that nothing is loose and can be lost.

For my business, I organize receipts according to my bank or credit card statement so that it is well-documented should I ever get audited.

Then, if you use an online software, properly classify the inflows and outflows in their respective accounts. Or prepare things for your bookkeeper in the way they recommend and let them handle the magic!

5. CLAIM – Vocalize your money goals at least weekly.

As I’ve written about before, I believe in monthly goals where you set both a base goal and an inspiring stretch goal.

Even if you don’t achieve the stretch, you will begin making different decisions. Likely that stretch requires that you show up in a new way, more fully honouring your time, worth and brilliance. Each time you claim your goals out loud, you are moving heaven and earth in your energetic world.

6. CONNECT – Link your money goals to your Big Why.

You likely have good reason for wanting the abundance you do. For 99% of the women I’ve met or work with, the reasons aren’t selfish. They are amazing, inspiring, bold, nurturing and exciting.

So connect to your reasons often. Without that connection, sometimes it’s easy to forget what you are working toward. When that happens, problems seem to mount, distractions creep in, and it is harder to stay motivated.

When you lock on to your Big Why, you can access laser focus and inner power you didn’t even know you had.

7. EXPAND – Open your arms and consciously invite in MORE!

One might not think this is an important step. I think it’s essential. Abundance is a flow. As energetic beings, we must indicate that we are open to receiving it.

Otherwise, so much of our programmed language and habitual patterns can actually close us off from the flow.

Practice standing with your arms open wide to the sides. Try doing this outside repeating this simple affirmation below. Do so turning in various directions until you feel a lightness or expansion inside yourself:

“I am open to infinite abundance from all sources.”

Your empowering action steps:

1. From the list above, which activities do you naturally gravitate toward?

For example, some people are great at the first three, but seldom focus on the more esoteric last four activities.

Others are great at connecting with energy of abundance, but need more structure around the grounding tactical activities in numbers 1, 2 and 3.

There is no right or wrong… just notice.

2. Book money love dates in your calendar.

I suggest every week for 30 minutes as a recurring appointment with yourself.

At first, you may need more than 30 minutes. That’s okay. Trust that consistent time spent nurturing your money flow is a great investment!
